SERVICE

Between the ages of 12 and 13, a young Jewish woman becomes obligated to observe the commandments of Judaism, and must make the choice to continue in that faith herself. "Bat Mitzvah" literally means "daughter of the commandments." The celebration of a Bat Mitzvah signifies that the young woman is beginning and will continue to function as an active and responsible young Jewish woman in the synagogue and in the wider Jewish community.

Noa’s Bat Mitzvah service will be held at Temple Ahavat Shalom at 10:30 am
with an Extended Kiddush Lunch to follow the service

NOA'S FRIENDS

Welcome to Noa's Bat Mitzvah website! We're really happy you'll be sharing Noa's special day with us. A lot of you have probably never been to a Bat Mitzvah, so you probably have tons of questions. There's more information throughout the website, but here's what you need to know in a nutshell!

Q. What is a Bat Mitzvah and what exactly will I be doing there?

So what does that mean exactly?

Noa has been learning to read Hebrew since kindergarten and she's
gotten really good at it. She's been studying specifically for her
Bat Mitzvah over the past year. Noa will read a lot of Hebrew at the
service, but there will also be a good amount of English. She will lead
the service and there will be a lot of interesting traditions for you to see.
Please arrive at the synagogue by 10:30 a.m. and expect the service to
last for approximiately an hour and half.

Q. What should I wear?
A. For the service girls should wear dresses and skirts. Boys should wear dress pants with a dress shirt & tie. Jackets are optional. They can also wear a suit if they want to. Please remember that you will be in a place of worship , so girls--please bring either a light sweater or wrap to cover your shoulders if you're wearing a strapless or sleeveless dress. And boys--you will be given a kippah when you enter the synagogue (& you'll wear that on your head).

For the party, the attire is Party Casual--jeans and nice top.

Q. What will the party be like?
A. Lots of food, games, music, dancing...and a whole bunch of other fun stuff!
We have a dj who will be entertaining everyone. After
all of Noa's hard work, this is the time to relax and celebrate!
