Dylan's Bar Mitzvah is September 7, 2019.

The service is called for 10:00 am, with a kiddush luncheon immediately following.

MITZVAH PROJECT

An essential element of the bar/bat mitzvah preparation at Temple Beth Tikvah includes understanding and practicing mitzvot. While a mitzvot is often referred to as a "good deed," the literal Hebrew meaning is "commandment" - an obligation that emerges out of the special covenant between the Jewish people and God. Temple Beth Tikvah feels  it is important for their students to experience this view of mitzvot so that the bar mitvah has a deeper meaning.
Dylan is doing 13 mitzvots in three categories. The goal of this is to encourage Dylan to engage Jewish life and tradition in meaningful ways.

• avodah (worship)
• Torah (study)
• g'milut chasadim (acts of loving kindness)

DYLAN'S FRIENDS

Welcome to Dylan's Bar Mitzvah website! We're really happy you'll be sharing Dylan's special day with us. A lot of you have probably never been to a Bar Mitzvah, so you probably have tons of questions. There's more information throughout the website, but here's what you need to know in a nutshell!

Q. What is a Bar Mitzvah and what exactly will I be doing there?
A. In the Jewish religion up until the age of 13, a child’s parents hold the responsibility for the child’s actions. Now that he is 13, Dylan will now be held accountable for his own actions to include those involving his family, his friends and the Jewish community here in Atlanta.

So what happens at a Bar Mitzvah?

On Saturday morning, Dylan will lead the service, read from the Torah, and give a speech. Parts of the service will be in Hebrew and a large part in English as well. Dylan is looking forward to explaining the contents of this tradition that is thousands of years old.

Q. What will the party be like?
A. Lots of food, games, music, dancing...and a whole bunch of other fun stuff!
We have a DJ who will be entertaining everyone, especially all of you. After
all of Dylan's hard work, this is the time to relax and celebrate!

If you or your parents have any other questions, please text or call 404-593-1868.

We'll see you September 7th!
